LONGVIEW – The Longview Goodwill retail store will celebrate its 30th anniversary as part of a three-day sale March 30-April 1. Goodwill stores across the region will feature savings of 50 percent off selected items.

The Longview Goodwill store opened April 1, 1977, at 720 14th Ave. Store hours are Monday- Saturday from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Pam Yanez, the store manager and a Longview resident, has been on the job nearly nine years.

“I always enjoy the diverse group of people who come through our store,” she said. “It’s like we all come together here as a community.”

In Fiscal Year 2006, the Longview Store had more than 116,000 customer visits. Sales from those visits supported Goodwill’s job-training and placement programs. Longview Goodwill is a division of Tacoma Goodwill Industries, a nonprofit organization that operates 20 retail stores in 15 counties and provided job services to 4,000 people last year.

“People participate in our mission to change lives by helping people with disabilities or disadvantages go to work when they make purchases from our stores,” said Terry A. Hayes, Goodwill CEO. “We’re always thankful for the help, whether it’s buying from our stores, making a donation of gently used household goods or volunteering with one of our programs.”

The sale will take place March 30-April 1 at all 20 Goodwill stores and feature savings of up to 50 percent off, with 30 percent off furniture, books, shoes, jewelry and toys. All stores will be open regular hours during the sale.
