TACOMA – Vouchers for $1 off a $9 regular-priced reserve ticket to a Tacoma Rainiers baseball game Aug. 1, 8 or 22 are available while supplies last starting Wednesday at Tacoma Goodwill donation stations throughout the South Puget Sound area.

A limited number of vouchers will be available starting July 11 at Goodwill stores and donation stations in Tacoma, Olympia, Lacey, Gig Harbor, South Hill-Puyallup, Auburn, Federal Way, and Bonney Lake. A complete list donation sites is available at www.tacomagoodwill.org, simply click on “Donate.”

“This is a great way of involving our fans and our team in Goodwill’s mission of helping people find work,” said Aaron Artman, Rainiers president. “The community also gets a chance to see the exciting family entertainment at Cheney Stadium.”

Rhubarb, the Tacoma Rainiers mascot, will be on hand to distribute vouchers from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 11, at the 38th Street Goodwill store, 3121 S. 38th St. in Tacoma. There will also be balloons for children.

This is the first time the Rainiers and Goodwill have teamed up to reward donations.

“We’re happy to work with the Rainiers,” said Terry A. Hayes, Goodwill CEO. “Any opportunity we have to increase donations helps our job-training and placement programs.”

Goodwill seeks gently used, ready-to-sell clothes and household items. Many donation stations are open for extended hours until September. Extended hours are Monday, Friday and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday/Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

A Rainiers voucher will be distributed for each donation visit. The vouchers can be exchanged at the Tacoma Rainiers Box office at Cheney Stadium for $1 off a $9 reserved ticket for games scheduled Aug. 1, at 7:05 p.m. against the Memphis Redbirds, Aug. 8 at 12:05 p.m. against the Nashville Sounds, or Aug. 22, at 7:05 p.m. against the Portland Beavers.

In 2006, there were 840,000 drop-off visits made to Goodwill donation stations, located across a 15-county area in Western and Southcentral Washington. Goodwill recycled 46.2 million pounds of clothes and household items last year.
