Longview Goodwill Store hosts blood drive Monday

LONGVIEW – A Longview Goodwill-sponsored blood drive will take place Monday, Aug. 2, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the store, 1030 15th Ave. in Longview. The Puget Sound Blood Center has a goal of 25 donors for the site.

“While the need for blood donors is constant, in the summer we have need for more blood yet receive fewer donations because of vacations,” said Yvette Kee, donor resource representative for the Southwest Washington Blood Program, a division of Puget Sound Blood Center.

Donors can make an appointment by calling Longview Goodwill Store Manager Pam Yanez at 360.425.7520 or email her at pyanez@tacomagoodwill.org. Walk-in donors are also welcome. The site will be closed for lunch from 1:30-2:30 p.m. For eligibility questions, call 800.398.7888. The process takes about an hour.

“This is a great opportunity to clean out closets and drop by a donation of clothes before going to give blood and taking advantage of great values in the store,” said Yanez, with Goodwill. “Donations of gently used clothes and household items support our job training and placement programs that help people get jobs.”

About Tacoma Goodwill
Goodwill is a unique nonprofit business. It turns donations and business revenue into programs that change lives by helping people with disabilities or disadvantages go to work. This year, Tacoma Goodwill Industries will help 10,000 people with education, job training and placement so they can become independent self-supporting citizens. Of these, more than 1,000 people with barriers to employment will be placed in jobs in the community. Job-training services are funded through financial gifts, grants, fees, commercial services and the operation of 26 thrift stores throughout Western and Southcentral Washington.
