Goodwill is a 501(c)(3) registered charitable organization with the state of Washington. Recent federal legislation allows for tax deductions of donated clothing and household goods in good, used condition or better. The contribution of a single item of clothing or a household item for which a deduction of more than $500 is claimed on a taxpayer return may require a qualified appraisal.
