National Garage Sale Day is This Saturday, August 13

National Garage Sale Day was born in 2001 when Alabaman C. Daniel Rhodes thought it would be more efficient for neighbors to hold their annual garage sales on the same weekend. Whether you are a bargain hunter, a treasure seeker or a home declutter-er, we wish you a happy and fruitful holiday.

Just like every holiday, after all the fun and excitement comes the dreaded cleanup. You found a fabulous new lamp for your living room end table. Where are you going to put the old one? You have a garage full of leftovers but don’t have the appetite to pack them away again. Who’s going to take them off your hands? Think Goodwill!

DID YOU KNOW:

  • Sales from donations made to Goodwill stores fund job training and services for nearly 10,000 disadvantaged people in our region.
  • Items donated to Goodwill stores are affordably priced so people can get more for their hard-earned dollar.
  • 83% of all donated items are resold or repurposed and kept out of landfills.
  • Your donation of goods to Goodwill is tax deductible.

Think Goodwill the day after any holiday—but especially National Garage Sale Day. You’ll get rid of your unwanted stuff and help your community and Goodwill gains more merchandise to stock store shelves and earn revenue for job training. It’s a win-win!
