Job Resource Room

The Job Resource Room is available to all Goodwill job seekers and the general public for an ongoing job search. Equipped with multiple computers, printer, phone and fax machine, as well as job postings, work guides, phone books and many other resources, the Job Resource Room is staffed with people available to assist you. Learn English (ESL Classes)

Placement Services

Placement Services assists participants in discovering their strengths and abilities and shows them how to market themselves in the workplace, and guide them through the application and interview process. Retention Services

Retention Services supports Goodwill participants and employees to ensure a positive and successful transition into a new job once hired. Participants are referred to the program, or may self-refer prior to receiving services. For more information, call: 253.573.6839


 

Supported Employment

Supported Employment matches qualified people with developmental disabilities to competitive jobs within the community. We offer personalized employment planning, job preparation and skill development. Once employed, we provide training, career growth and job retention services. Group Supported Employment

Group Supported Employment contracts with businesses to provide training opportunities for people whose disabilities need closer supervision. An on-site skills trainer works with groups of 4-6 individuals. For more information, call: 253.573.6718


 

Ticket to Work

Goodwill is an Employment Network (EN) for the Social Security Administration’s Ticket to Work Program. Beneficiaries who are between the ages of 18 and 64 and are interested in returning to work, or recently began working, are eligible for free services under this program which offers individualized services and support to assist participants in attaining financial self-sufficiency. Vocational goals and the services and support are developed on a case-by-case basis. Employed participants receive continuing employment support and work incentives up to five years. Women 2 Work

Women 2 Work offers an individualized plan of services for women who have at least one child 8 or younger. The program takes a two generation approach to meet the needs of both mother and child together to put the whole family on a path to well-being and financial security. Work Evaluation

This is a 20-day program in which the participant is placed in a job and assessed to see how well they perform. This is a real work experience; the participant is expected to perform the duties of their job and may be paid. Successful participants may be referred to job placement services. It also gives participants the opportunity to explore up to four different jobs to help them find the best and most enjoyable fit for them. Accommodations may be made based on limitations. Vocational Testing

Knowing areas for improvement or strengths to highlight can be an important piece of resume building, preparation for job interviews and job search activities. Tests provide concrete evidence and help identify job training needs. Goodwill provides a variety of tests that can help individuals determine their skills, strengths and weaknesses. Tests are conducted in the Assessment Lab and can evaluate interests, values, aptitudes, academic level, learning styles, cognitive ability/memory and general problem solving ability. Financial Education

Goodwill’s Financial Education program is designed to provide employees and members of the community with invaluable skills essential to building financial stability and self-sufficiency. This course incorporates banking basics, budgeting, debt management, investing, critical thinking skills, reading and understanding credit reports/scores. Class size is structured to ensure a supportive learning environment with the goal of giving each student the knowledge necessary to achieve a financially stable future. Workforce Navigator

Youth Development Services

Goodwill offers free youth development workshops at local schools within Pierce County to promote social behavior and to reduce youth violence.  Workshop topics include but are not limited to: anger management, healthy relationships, bullying, gang intervention, personal responsibility and empathy. GED® Program

Goodwill, in partnership with Bates Technical College, offers Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes for students who need to improve their reading, writing, and math skills as well as pass the GED®. REACH Center

The REACH Center is a partnership of local community agencies and schools that provides a one-stop approach to career, education and personal and professional development for at risk youth ages 16-24.
