Keith’s childhood was relatively normal until he reached high school. He started having health issues that resulted in several hospital stays.
After numerous misdiagnoses, he was eventually admitted to Washington State Hospital where he was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder. He had to leave school but was able to complete his diploma through online courses.
Since that time, things have improved for Keith. He is taking medication that controls his condition and recently enrolled in Goodwill’s Barista Skills program. Eventually he plans to go to Evergreen College to get a degree in science. He is hoping to use the skills he is learning in the Barista program to get a job at the café on campus—the next step towards a bright future.
